“Keri is sharp in both her banter and her songwriting...
they seemed right at home on the theatre’s iconic stage, especially when being ushered off of it with a standing ovation.”
- Opening for Bobby McFerrin, Jazz Fest 2019, Erin Lebar, Winnipeg Free Press

Leaf Rapids is a small isolated town in Northern Manitoba where the Aurora Borealis graffiti the winter skies. It is also the borrowed moniker of a Winnipeg band featuring keen songwriting, sweet and smoky harmonies, luscious guitar licks and the eerie sound of the theremin. Critics can’t decide if their sound is cinematic Canadiana, Manitoba Motown, or spacey spaghetti- western.

Keri Latimer, Devin Latimer, Joanna Miller and Chris Dunn are realists and dreamers. They are chemistry professors, dry-wallers, child rearers, and custodians of the night that croon about love as it applies to vultures, barbershop stabbings, satellites and velvet paintings to name a few. Collective career highlights of the band members include touring the world, winning a JUNO Award while giving birth, playing Parliament Hill on Canada Day, being signed and dropped by Nettwerk Records, scoring an Academy Award nominated film, and scooping a songwriting award from Bryan Adams.

Their much anticipated new album, Velvet Paintings, will be released on April 19, 2024 on Mile 33 Records.

With Velvet Paintings, free of ambition, loaded with letting go, and armed with an acute recognition of all the things she loves

about the thing she loves, Latimer and her co- conspirators have sculpted a remarkably organic offering in a body of work already notable for its naturality.
